Times of refreshing!

“Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus." -- Acts 3:19,20 (ESV)

We prepare to enter a season of change as the temperatures mellow and New England autumn comes our way! After a hot summer some refreshing weather is a welcome change! Refreshment and change happens also in matters of our faith. We grow as we repent, or turn again toward our Lord and are fed and refreshed by him! Where does this happen but in his presence!

A new and refreshing time is upon us at Saint John Lutheran Church. I am certainly enjoying this refreshment with you as we gather in his Name! We now begin Sunday School classes as well as Information Sessions, refreshing our memory and hearts with God’s word as found in the Catechism!

We also gather together to receive of our Savior in worship so that these times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. As the Large Catechism puts it, we may, “go joyfully to the sacrament and receive refreshment, comfort, and strength.” May the Lord continue to refresh our faith as we hear, believe and receive his presence together!
