Advent - On Wednesday Dec. 4 at 7pm, we begin our midweek Advent services in the St. John sanctuary. For the Advent season we will share the Divine Service and the Vespers evening prayer. As incense was offered to the Christ child, the church has seen fit to offer it in its worship as a reminder of our prayers ascending into heaven. We will offer incense for our first Wednesday service.  In the words of the historic Psalm prayer for Vespers, "Let my prayer rise before you as incense!"

Soup and Service - Join us for Soup and Services during the Advent season. On Dec. 4, Dec. 11, and Dec. 18, there will be soup in the Fellowship Hall from 5:30 to 6:45 pm followed by worship in the Sanctuary at 7 pm. All are welcome! Those willing to bring their favorite soup or bread for sharing can sign up on the sheets in the narthex.

Gifts for Meriden Seniors - We will again be collecting gifts for Meriden seniors, to be distributed by the Meriden Senior Citizens' Center. Please bring your unwrapped gifts to St. John by Sunday, Dec. 15. Warm hats, socks, gloves, puzzle books, special food or health and beauty items are welcome.

Christmas Memorials - Christmas memorials are available at the table in the narthex. Monetary contributions continue through Dec. 15.

One for You and One for Me - We are excited to announce our food drive challenge. Between Nov. 8 and Jan. 5, we are challenging the congregation to collect 500 food products for the Meriden Food Pantry. Let's make a positive impact on the lives of those facing food insecurity. Items in need include tuna, pasta and sauce, canned foods, rice, and paper goods. No glass please.
