Seasons of faith

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18

Merriam Webster’s Dictionary defines the word “summer” quite simply as “the season between spring and autumn.” Seasons come and go, and though we may not think of it, there are seasons of faith as well. As outdoor temperatures climb, I ask you if you are in “faith’s summer?” Are you living between the birth of faith’s spring and the autumn of shining growth and maturity? Or perhaps you experience mid-summer Christian blues, feeling spiritually tired, old and worn…Does growth seem like something only other Christians experience?

Peter reminds us as God’s own that we are always to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Growing is a part of life and faith is a growth process through all its seasons! Now, you are sure to experience times where there is some disturbance, perhaps a strong front, some heavy storms and troubles weathering faith.

You may even at times feel you are just running against the wind...

Through the shifting, changing winds of life the Lord is with you as his own. He is there protecting his child...behind it all...with his purposes...caring in the midst of it all! Your faith needs protection too as it is sheltered from the storm in the Lord’s family! Church is God’s idea and it is for your good!

As seasons come and seasons go only the Spirit of God in his Word blows away the cold and gloom of sin so that you see Jesus before you again! As you share in God’s worship this summer with the message of the cross delivered into your ears and heart, you remain strengthened in faith with momentum to move ahead. In all things, at all times God will carry you on as you grow in the grace of the Lord!
