St. John offers several different musical groups, all of whom frequently participate in worship services:
The choir sings anthems at most worship services during the school year, making an important contribution to the worship experience. During the Advent season, they perform a service of Lessons and Carols. On Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, they provide a great deal of music befitting the somber mood of the services. In June, the choir performs a special music service, singing many anthems that tell the story of the Gospels. The Chorister Choir rehearses Tuesday evenings at 8:00. The handbell choir always rings at Easter and Reformation services, and during the Advent season. They perform anthems, preludes, or offertories at other services throughout the school year as well. They rehearse on every other Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:00. Contact Sandy Zimmerman at (203) 634-1001.
If you are between the ages of five and twelve, you enjoy music, you are looking for a way to give to the church, and you like food, then the King's Kids is for you! The King's Kids meet on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. for music, a kid-friendly dinner, and a lot of fun. They perform an anthem at a Sunday morning worship service once each month, and the congregation always looks forward to hearing them. Contact Cathy Mousch at (203) 238-9070.
